The Shepherd’s Voice

The Shepherd’s Voice

John 10:27  “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

Recognizing the Right Voice

We live in a world filled with noise. Countless voices tell us who we should be, what we should value, and how we should live. In the chaos, it can feel nearly impossible to discern what’s true. Yet Jesus gives us a simple, powerful promise: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

The Shepherd’s voice doesn’t compete with the noise - it cuts through it. His words bring clarity, peace, and direction where confusion reigns. But hearing His voice requires more than simply being near - it requires being attuned.

Learning the Shepherd’s Voice

A shepherd doesn’t need to shout to be heard by his sheep. They know him because they’ve spent time with him. The same is true of us. We grow familiar with Christ’s voice through prayer, through His Word, and through obedience.

The enemy whispers lies that sound close to truth. The world shouts promises it cannot keep. But the Shepherd speaks life, and the more time we spend in His presence, the more clearly we’ll recognize His call. His voice always leads to still waters, to restoration, and to paths of righteousness.

Following Without Fear

Listening is only the first step - the call of the Shepherd is to follow. And following often means stepping into the unknown. But the sheep need not fear, for the One who calls them is also the One who protects, provides, and lays down His life for them.

When we hear His voice and obey, we walk in step with the One who never fails us.

This Week’s Challenge

Each day this week, spend 15 minutes in quiet with God. Read His Word, pray, and then sit in stillness. Ask Him to help you discern His voice above the noise.

A Prayer to Follow

Jesus, help me know Your voice more clearly. Teach me to tune out the noise of this world and follow You wherever You lead. Amen.
