Strength Made Perfect

2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
When Weakness Feels Like Failure
We spend much of our lives trying to avoid weakness. We hide it, deny it, and do everything we can to cover it up. The world tells us that strength is found in self-reliance, confidence, and power. But Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians flip that logic on its head: God’s power is made perfect in weakness.
Weakness isn’t failure - it’s an invitation. It’s the place where our strength ends and God’s strength begins.
Grace That Holds
Paul pleaded for God to remove his thorn, but instead of taking it away, God gave him something greater: grace. Grace that carried him through. Grace that reminded him that Christ was enough.
The thorn didn’t disappear, but Paul’s perspective shifted. He began to see weakness not as a liability but as a stage for God’s power. What once seemed unbearable became the very place where God’s glory was displayed most clearly.
Power in Dependence
Our culture celebrates independence, but the Kingdom celebrates dependence on Christ. When we admit our weakness, we open the door for God’s power to rest on us. His strength doesn’t just cover our weakness; it shines through it.
That’s why Paul could say he would boast in weakness - because weakness wasn’t the end of the story. God’s grace was.
This Week’s Challenge
Bring one weakness honestly before God this week. Instead of asking Him to take it away, ask Him to let His power be seen through it.
A Prayer for Sufficient Grace
Lord, I bring You my weakness. Remind me that Your grace is enough and that Your power is made perfect in the places where I fall short. Be strong in me this week. Amen.
