Streams in the Desert

Isaiah 43:19 — “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Hope in Dry Places

There are seasons when life feels like a desert—dry, empty, and endless. The wilderness can test our endurance, leaving us weary and wondering if refreshment will ever come. But God makes a bold promise: “I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Even in the driest places, God is able to bring life.

The God of Renewal

God specializes in new beginnings. What looks like a wasteland to us is an opportunity for Him to display His power. He makes paths where there were none, waters where there was only dust, and life where there was only barrenness.

The desert may feel final, but it isn’t. God is at work even when we cannot see it. His streams flow in unexpected places, reminding us that His provision never runs dry.

Learning to See the New Thing

The challenge isn’t whether God is working—it’s whether we can perceive it. Dry seasons can blind us to the fresh work of the Spirit. But if we open our eyes in faith, we’ll see that even in the desert, God is doing something new.

The stream you need may already be springing up—you just need the eyes to see it.

If you’re in a dry season, write down one area where you need God’s refreshment. Pray Isaiah 43:19 over it and trust Him to make a way in your wilderness.

A Prayer for Renewal

Lord, thank You for making streams in my desert places. Open my eyes to see the new thing You are doing and give me faith to walk in it. Amen.
