Still Waters

Psalm 23:2 “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.”

The Shepherd’s Rest

Life rarely slows down on its own. Responsibilities pile up, noise fills our minds, and rest feels like a luxury we can’t afford. Yet Psalm 23 reminds us that the Good Shepherd doesn’t just suggest rest - He makes us lie down in green pastures and leads us beside still waters.

Rest isn’t a sign of weakness - it’s a gift from God.

A Peace the World Can’t Offer

Still waters represent more than calm surroundings - they symbolize the peace that only God can provide. The world offers distractions, but not true rest. Christ offers peace that restores the soul, quiets the heart, and renews the spirit.

The Shepherd doesn’t just lead us toward survival - He leads us toward renewal.

Learning to Follow Him There

Often, our struggle isn’t finding rest but allowing it. We resist slowing down, fearing we’ll fall behind. But true renewal comes when we trust the Shepherd enough to stop striving and follow Him into His rest.

Still waters are not a place we find - they are a place He leads. The question is: will we follow?

This Week’s Challenge

Set aside 30 minutes this week for intentional rest with God. No distractions, no noise - just Scripture, prayer, and stillness. Let Him restore your soul.

A Prayer for Renewal

Lord, thank You for leading me beside still waters. Teach me to trust You enough to rest and allow my soul to be renewed in Your presence. Amen.
