The Race We’re Called to Run
Life isn’t a sprint - it’s a marathon. Hebrews 12 paints the Christian life as a race that requires endurance, focus, and discipline. The goal isn’t speed, but faithfulness. The finish line isn’t applause, but Christ Himself.
Running with endurance means we accept that the road won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it.

Runners don’t show up to a marathon with heavy backpacks. They shed what would slow them down. Scripture calls us to do the same - throw off everything that hinders and the sin that entangles. That means letting go of habits, distractions, and compromises that steal our focus from Christ.
Endurance isn’t just about strength - it’s about freedom. The lighter the load, the stronger the stride.
Encouraged by the Cloud
We are not running alone. Hebrews reminds us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses—those who’ve gone before us, who endured by faith and now cheer us on. Their stories remind us that it can be done, and that God’s grace is enough for every step.
The race is long, but we are not without encouragement.

Ask God to show you one weight that’s slowing you down. Lay it aside, and take one intentional step this week to run freer, lighter, and closer to Christ.
A Prayer for Endurance
Lord, help me run with endurance the race set before me. Give me the strength to lay down every weight and the courage to keep my eyes fixed on You until I reach the finish line. Amen.
