Joy Comes in the Morning

Psalm 30:5 — “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

The Reality of the Night

Nights can feel long. Whether it’s grief, disappointment, or struggle, darkness has a way of making hope seem distant. Scripture doesn’t deny that weeping exists—it acknowledges it. But it also promises that the night is not the end of the story. Morning always comes.

God’s mercy ensures that no night lasts forever.

The Promise of the Morning

The sunrise is more than a shift in time—it’s a declaration of hope. Each new day carries God’s assurance that sorrow has an expiration date and joy is on the horizon. His presence turns mourning into dancing, despair into rejoicing, and darkness into dawn.

Our hope is not in avoiding sorrow, but in trusting that God’s joy will meet us on the other side.

Choosing Joy in Advance

Sometimes we have to choose joy even before we feel it. Faith looks past the darkness and anchors itself in the promise of morning. Choosing joy doesn’t ignore pain—it trusts that God is writing a greater ending.

Even when the night feels unbearable, we cling to the truth: joy comes in the morning.

Lord, thank You that sorrow is temporary and joy eternal. Strengthen me through the night and fill me with hope for the morning You have promised. Amen.
